Non-Immigrant Visas (B, ED, O...).

Non-Immigrant Visas in Thailand are issued for specific purposes and allow foreign nationals to stay in the country for extended periods under defined conditions. The Non-Immigrant Visa “B” (Business) is intended for individuals engaging in business activities, employment, or investment in Thailand. The Non-Immigrant Visa “O” (Other) is commonly issued to foreigners who are spouses or dependents of Thai nationals, retirees, or those seeking long-term stay for personal reasons. The Non-Immigrant Visa “ED” (Education) is designed for foreigners enrolled in accredited educational institutions or participating in approved training or internship programs. Each visa type has distinct requirements and conditions, and choosing the appropriate category is essential for legal compliance and long-term stay in Thailand.

4 types of Long Term Resident Visas (LTR)

Thailand’s Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa program is designed to attract high-potential foreign nationals by offering a 10-year renewable visa along with a range of tax and immigration benefits. There are four main categories under the LTR visa:

(1) Wealthy Global Citizens, for individuals with high net worth and substantial global income or assets;

(2) Wealthy Pensioners, aimed at retirees with a stable income or investment in Thailand;

(3) Work-from-Thailand Professionals, for remote workers employed by well-established overseas companies; and

(4) Highly-Skilled Professionals, targeting experts in key industries, including technology, healthcare, and research, who are employed by Thai or foreign entities in Thailand. Each category has specific eligibility criteria, designed to support Thailand’s economic development while providing long-term stability and convenience for qualified individuals.

Visa conversion

Visa conversion refers to the legal process of changing one type of visa to another while remaining in Thailand, without the need to leave and re-enter the country. This service is often used when a foreign national’s purpose of stay changes—for example, converting a Tourist Visa to a Non-Immigrant Visa for business, retirement, education, or family reasons. The process involves submitting the appropriate application and supporting documents to the Thai Immigration Bureau, and meeting the specific eligibility requirements of the new visa category. Visa conversion helps ensure compliance with Thai immigration laws while allowing individuals to continue their stay in Thailand without interruption.

Work Permit

The work permit process in Thailand is the legal procedure through which a foreign national obtains official authorization to work in the country. This process begins with securing the appropriate visa—typically a Non-Immigrant “B” Visa—followed by the submission of a work permit application to the Ministry of Labour. The application requires supporting documents from both the employer and the employee, including company registration documents, employment contracts, and educational or professional qualifications. Once approved, the work permit specifies the employer, job position, and work location. Compliance with the work permit regulations is essential, as working without one is a violation of Thai law and may result in penalties or deportation.
